I’m Spencer Ridenour — a union bartender, community advocate, and candidate for Nevada State Assembly District 41. I was raised by hardworking, working-class parents, and my family’s story is rooted in resilience and the pursuit of opportunity. My maternal grandparents immigrated from Mexico, opened a bakery, and built a life for their family, while my father’s parents left poverty in Michigan in search of a better future in the West. From an early age, I learned the value of community and giving back, beginning with coaching youth basketball in high school to inspire and guide the next generation.

In the early 2010s, I moved to Las Vegas to attend UNLV, working as a bartender on the Strip to pay for school. Serving people from every walk of life shaped my understanding of the struggles everyday Nevadans face—families trying to make ends meet, workers striving for stability, and seniors stretching every dollar. In 2016, I helped organize my workplace to become unionized, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with my coworkers to demand dignity, fair treatment, and a voice on the job. As a shop steward for Bartenders Union Local 165, I fought for the rights and wages of my fellow union members, serving as their voice at the negotiating table with casino management.

Today, I still spend my free time coaching youth basketball at Silverado Ranch, staying active in community events, and enjoying time with my family. I’m happily married, have owned my home in the district for nearly a decade, and not too long ago served on the LVMPD Citizen Review Board to help strengthen relationships between our officers and the community at large.

I’m running for the State Assembly to fight for the issues that matter most to working families: affordable health care, higher wages, and lower costs for necessities like housing and groceries. With more than a decade of experience bartending in Las Vegas, I know firsthand the challenges faced by people living on a tipped income, and I bring that lived experience to my campaign. I’m not a career politician—I’m someone who clocks in and out 40 hours a week and believes every Nevadan deserves a fair shot at success. I’m ready to bring the voices of working people to Carson City and fight for a future where Nevada’s economy works for everyone.
